As you are aware, Governor Whitmer issued an executive order to close all public and nonpublic schools in the state until April 6, 2020, due to the COVID-19 virus. While this executive decision goes into effect on Monday, March 16 some schools have made the decision to close schools today to help with further planning.
Our Catholic schools have been working internally with staff the last few days to develop plans in case of a prolonged closure. All of our school administrators from across the diocese are meeting this morning to finalize plans for the continuing education of students during these unprecedented times. If feasible, for each site, education will continue through distance learning or alternative methods.
You will hear further updates from your local principal as to the specific plans of your school after our meeting today. Look for those communications later this afternoon.
Please be assured the Office of Schools, as well as your local schools, are in contact with various government agencies. If you have any questions or concerns about this unprecedented situation, please do not hesitate to contact me.
