St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School recently received two awards honoring their promotion of wellness within the school. On October 5, 2018, at the Best and Brightest in Wellness Awards in Dearborn, Michigan, St. Charles was awarded a "Best and Brightest Award" in the school category. In addition to that award, they were also honored by receiving an "Elite Award' in the school category as well.
Best and Brightest is a program that “celebrates excellence in health awareness”, an area that St. Charles is excelling. In an initiative to encourage a healthier community within the school, St. Charles has implemented policies and materials to promote healthier living, including “yoga ball chairs, stress balls, daily recess, a no-cupcake policy, and much more”, in the words of principal Brenda Mescher.
Congratulations to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School for the recognition of their dedication to inspiring students and staff to lead healthy lives. The model of wellness seen within one of our Catholic schools shows a desire to better educate each student and a new level of care for the well-being of the school community.
