As mentioned in our morning communication, our Diocesan administrators met earlier today to review Governor Whitmer’s Executive Order to close all schools in the State for the next three weeks and to ensure that each school is able to meet the needs of its local school community.
Following that meeting, given these unprecedented circumstances as well as to be in compliance with the Governor’s directive, our 21 schools are:
Canceling all school-related events for the duration of the mandated closure;
Continuing to follow CDC guidelines in regard to deep cleaning the buildings;
Providing online instruction and/or other alternative methods of delivering instruction beginning next week; and
Considering adjusting the time of spring break to one of the weeks already mandated to lessen the time students are out of school (if this would be feasible for the local community).
The above-listed actions are the overarching steps that our schools are taking. The specifics for each school’s plan will be communicated to you directly from your building administrator.
We understand these are difficult times and these actions will cause hardships for many. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we work through this uncharted territory. Please know the decisions being made have the best interest of your child and his/her education in mind.
Be assured the Office of Schools, as well as your local schools, will continue to be in contact with various governmental agencies. You will receive communication via email if there are any significant changes that affect our schools.
If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.
Let us remember to pray for one another as we journey through these difficult times.
Sincerely,
Margaret Erich
