The Diocese of Kalamazoo policy allows a child to enroll in kindergarten in one of our schools if the child is at least 5 years of age on September 1 of the year of enrollment.
Application into any of the Diocese of Kalamazoo schools should be done with the school of your choice directly as each has its own policies and procedures.
Schools are open for enrollment throughout the year. Enrollment for the following school year typically begins, at the majority of our schools, by late January with returning students. New student registration runs concurrently at some schools or a few weeks later at others. You can find specific enrollment information for each school on their website.
The Diocese of Kalamazoo and it's schools believe that Catholic education should be available to all those who want it for their children. We strive to offer an exceptional education at an affordable cost. Even so, we understand that being able to afford a Catholic education can be a struggle for some families and will include sacrifices for every family. School funding itself is made up of three parts; tuition, parish support and other monies that may come from fundraising and endowments.
The below numbers reflect the average funding sources of support for the schools within our Diocese.
All of our schools have different methods for evaluating financial need. We recommend that each family be upfront in their financial situation. Our schools are not able to properly evaluate or assist with financial need if there are things we do not know.
Parishioner Grant Subsidy -
Our schools offer a tuition subsidy for those who are members of a Catholic parish who submit their Sunday envelopes so the parish knows you are attending. At most of our parishes, it is not a matter of how much you give, but rather that you are there and attend mass.
National Black & Indian Mission Office Grant -
Yearly, the diocese collects information from the schools on individuals who may qualify for grant monies out of the National Mission Office for African-American and Native American evangelization. The diocesan office applies for the grant in the spring for the following school year. The number of funds that are available to give out to our families varies based on the amount of money is awarded from the mission office.
Kremer Foundation Grant -
A number of our schools apply yearly for the Kremer Foundation Grant which supports tuition needs for families at the school. To qualify for the grant the school must use data from all of its families to show need. The grant itself provides money to the school on behalf of families who are in need of assistance.
